Chapter 29

24th December 2021

My exposed fingers were getting cold while holding the novel I was immersed into, but I was too invested in the story line to care about my freezing hands. Soon enough my screen lit up with a notification catching my attention.

GoneWithTheWind🍂
'Listen. I need some help'

I recently changed his name from RedNose to GoneWithTheWind because that's how he is.

Hawa ke saath aata hai aur hawa ke saath chala jata hai.
(He always comes in and goes away like a wind.)
Hence, gone with the wind.

'Yeah?' I replied back, closing my book.

'Can we talk on call?'

'Sure'

In an instant my phone rang and I picked it up.

"Hmm"

"Hmm. Have you ever written a biography?," his voice echoed through the other side.

'Hmms' have become our 'hellos' nowadays.

"Umm, I haven't written one before. What about it?"

"I want you to write one."

"On?"

"I mean tell me what are the major points while writing a biography. Take me for an example," he explained and I burst into laughter.

Biography on him?
Murat?
Lmao

"I'm serious!" I could feel him smiling in his voice.

I tried to control my laugh and said, "Okay. Your biography", but failed miserably.

"Yeah tell me all the necessary details."

"Well, first you need a full name, DOB, native place, work-life....." I started pinpointing the main things and made notes side by side as he answered me.

It felt like interviewing him lol.
What are your degrees?
What's your profession?

Okay Anastasia Steele, we are done for now.

"How much time will it take to finish?" My Christian Grey asked me after I took his so-called interview.

"Umm... Midnight, probably? Or else tomorrow. " I typed down the notes.

"Okay, sounds good. Take your time. But it's kinda urgent so... "

"Hmmmm, yeah don't worry. I will try to finish as soon as possible."

"Yep"

"Okay then I will talk to you later. It's dinner time."

"Okay okay. See ya"

After dinner I quickly left every work I was doing and started writing his biography.

Murat Ahmad assigned me a task. I can't disappoint him.
Time fled quickly and it was already midnight.

'It's almost done but just needs some corrections. I will send it tomorrow.' I leave him a text, preparing to sleep.

'Show me whatever you have written till now,' he replied instantly.

'But it's incomplete'

'I know.'

I sent him the context and went back to writing.

'I will call you tomorrow,' his text popped up making my heartbeat fast.

I smiled and texted, 'okay.'

After a week of his busy schedule and our irregular texts we finally talked today properly.
It was work related but still, talking to him is what I crave for.
I can talk on any topic with him for hours.

His attention is all I want.

25th December 2021

'Will you call or not?' I texted him.
It was evening and he hasn't called yet.

I had few doubts related to that biography thingy but he wasn't replying.

Ugh.

Also, I was craving for some random talks.

'Yeah just 5 mins,' he replied after a few mins.
It's been an hour and his 5 minutes aren't over yet.
I gave up all hope and opened my novel, eating the pasta I made while waiting for him and my phone rang instantly.

"Hogaye aapke 5 minute poore?" I said just after answering it.
(Are your 5 minutes complete now?)

"Arey yaar bas, kuch na kuch kaam aa raha tha. Abhi bhi ek aur kaam pending hai lekin ek farishte ne aakar kaha jaldi se pehle tumhe call karlu." (Arey I was just... wrapping up stuff. Few tasks are still remaining to be done but suddenly an angel descended from a sky advising me to call you first before proceeding to work.)

"Accha. Bade jaldi aa gaya na farishta?" (Ohh. The angel came quite quickly, didn't he?) I muttered sarcastically.

"Haa bas. Dimag kayi jagah hota hai yaar." (yeah just... my mind is all over the place yaar.)

.
.
.

"Remember what I said about my over thinking habit I have got?"

"Hmmm"

"That's because...sometimes we end up saying something which hurts the other person. So I just think thrice before saying anything, mostly." I admitted.

It was over 30 mins and we were deep into the conversation. I was finally admitting my thoughts and fears to him.
I have always told him to open up and share things with me which are bothering him, and never think twice before sharing anything. It wouldn't be fair to him if I would hide my bothering thoughts, fearing he might judge me, while expecting him to be an open book in front of me.

"Not everything needs to be thought about before saying," he advised.

"Oh. And what are those things?" I asked curiously.

"You will know it gradually."

Ugh! Why does he always leave me in suspense?

"Well... Recently almost 2-3 people... have gone from my life. So.. I just keep getting conscious about it." I finally confessed the actual reason.

"I see. Well, this is inevitable. People come and go. That's what life is about."

"Yeah...but it's my starting phase."

"This is completely okay. We shouldn't take these things to heart."

".....also they were pretty close-type people."

"Who were they?"

"Two girl friends of mine"

"Oh girls, not guys?"

"Nope", I laughed.

"Oh I thought guys. Well...this is life." He paused. "By the way why not any guy?"

"I....," I pursued my lips, "don't really get close with them."

"Ohh."

"Because they take the wrong message most of the time." I rolled my eyes.

"I see."

"Vo bas ek hi tha....aur is waqt hai. Uske alawa aur koi nahi." (He was the only one I had....and he still is.... the only one.)

"Vo kon hai?"
(Who's he?)

I managed up the courage and answered with scarlett cheeks,"Vo..... Jiski main biography likh rahi hu," (he is.... the one I'm currently writing a biography on), referring to him indirectly.

"Achha" (Oh.) I could feel him smiling through his voice, which ends up chuckling.

"Ji," (yep) I laughed quietly and added, "By the way.."

"Hmm?"

"I forgot to ask. What's your hobby, Mr Grey?" I asked him with a big grin instilled in my face. I told him a few mins ago how I was getting anastasia steele's vibes yesterday while taking his interview, so I decided to joke around with him a bit. How about I change his contact name again lol?

He cleared his throat and answered in a low voice, "Ruling my anastasia's mind."

My mouth was hung open, not expecting that comeback from him. Blood rushed to my cheeks as I murmured after a few seconds, "Wow. Quite a great hobby. Shall I include this in your biography?"

"Definitely." I could feel a big grin on his face by the way his voice sounded.

30th December 2021

The day he became my boss.

"So here's another thing I want you to do," Murat said in a muffled voice which caught my attention.

"Hmmm?" I adjusted the phone on the table while setting the new collection of novels in order on my shelf.

We were having a video call.
With my earbuds attached.
Don't forget we live in a brown family.

"I'm sending you some examples of articles. Examine them and notice how they are written. Then I will provide you with the topics and write in the same style."

"Okay." I said slowly while checking the novels in my arms, "Send me."

"Yeah. There are 15 articles all based on similar topics. And it's kinda urgent. I want all of them in two days."

"15?!" I looked up at him with shock.

"Yes. Are you sure you will do it? The word limit is short this time," he smiled, glancing at me while typing something on his laptop sideways.

"Umm okay." I answered, eyes still lingering on the shelf.

"I'm sending you an example. Look into it."

"Yeah, send me. I'll see if it's my type or not," I turn around with a polite smile, hands crossed behind my back.

"And if it's not your type you won't do it, right?" he raised his eyebrow.

"Arey 15?! In just two days!" My voice raised as I put my hands on my waist.

"Arey it's not a big deal."

"It is a big deal. For me," I point my finger at myself with a tight lipped smile and calm voice.

"Ohkay, so you are running away now, hmmm?" He eyed me.

I chuckled and walked towards the table. "First tell me what's in your mouth." I put my elbows on the table and rested my face in my palms, admiring him. I couldn't ignore his muffled voice this time.

"My tooth came out."

"Oh you're getting a wisdom tooth?" I chuckled and sat down on the chair.

"Hmm. No, not that. The dentist took it out," he shook his head and explained with a gesture.

"Ohhh why??" My eyebrows scrunched.

"Got a problem. It was paining a lot," he lightly tapped his cheek.

"I see."

"So yep back to work, I'm sending you. And just think my reputation depends on it. So please don't deny it," he looked at me with pleading eyes.

"Uffo. Reputation." I rolled my eyes.

"Yea."

"What happened to the last work I did?"

"It went great alhamdulillah (Thanks to almighty). That's why I came to you again."

"Hmmmm." I closed my eyes thinking deeply, if I should say yes or not.

"Now it's not like you are a busy person with studies and other stuff," he murmured teasingly.

"Oh acha? (Oh really?) Why not?" I narrowed my eyes. "I'm a University Student!"

"Anyways I have sent you, check it out," his eyes were on his laptop.

"Okay," I scrolled down the notification bar as the new message popped up on telegram.

Yeah, it's him.
I swiped up the bar, revealing his face on the screen.

"I know you are perfect at English and you will do great," he looked at me with his beautiful smile.

He's buttering me.
I know this strategy.

I closed my eyes and sighed.

"Hayat," he whispered my name in his soft, honey-dipped voice.

Yeah I'm fine.
Not melting at all.
"Ummmm," I opened my eyes, looking down, "Okay fine."

"You will do it?" his voice led me to meet his eyes.

"What if I screwed up?" my eyebrows scrunched worriedly.

"Why would you?"

"I don't know." I whispered closing my eyes and taking my head in my hands, hairs falling down.

"Why do you get scared in every work?" he takes a deep breath resting back on his leather chair.

"I'm not scared of doing the work," I sat up straight. "I'm afraid of ruining the work. Or not fulfilling the responsibility I have." I started rambling with my hands roaming in the air.

"Hayat."

"Or missing the deadline." I kept rambling ignoring him.

"Hayaat." He takes my name again softly but louder this time, making me look at him with a heavy throat. "You won't ruin it," he spoke looking into my eyes. "Just follow me, and do as I say. Okay?"

I blinked a few times before whispering, "...okay."

His lips formed into an assuring smile and muttered, "good girl," as I give a tight lipped smile with lots of nodding.
